Flying tomorrow to Cannes to participate in MIDEM, attend a dinner with the music labels who bought the licence of “Club Opera” and other potential licencees, and premiere the music video of my new single “I’m alive”.

MIDEM is acronym for Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale which is held been annually in and around the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. The event, which is billed as the world’s largest trade fair for the music industry, has been held since 1967. Several thousand musicians, producers, managers, and journalists from around the globe regularly attend the event, which is currently held at the end of January.

MIDEM provides a forum for business talks, political and legal discussions. It also is a platform for showcasing new artists, musical trends and music-related products. A series of conferences are also organised to promote MIDEM’s growing vocation of educating the music industry about new revenue streams.

Since 2000, the night before MIDEM opens, the Palais des Festivals hosts the NRJ Music Awards. The awards ceremony is organised by NRJ, a French multimedia conglomerate that owns France’s most popular music station.

MIDEM will be held on 26-29 January 2013.
